ABOUT ME

Rudy Diaz, Computer Science

Hi, My name is Rudy Diaz and i have been teaching for about four years now, I have taught Art and Computer Science.   I was born and raised in New York City in the borough of Manhattan. I transitioned to the Bronx in my early teen years and have been prospering ever since with the arts and Computer Science.

I have worked in multiple afterschool programs, first with Dreamyard being an intern and then serving as a program coordinator and an art collaborator. I moved to the East Side House Settlement where they house an enrichment program as a nonprofit organization. From there I moved to the South Bronx Early College Academy and WHEDco which allowed me the opportunity to work with the wonderfully diverse community and teach Computer Science.

I never thought I would be teaching but the main reason that I decided to do so was that I never got taught the way I wanted. I think I can give something back to the students so they can prosper and open up many doors they have yet to discover. So I am very passionate about why students should learn about everything. As someone who grew up in the same area, I know there are many barriers and education can literally knock them out of the way.  My likes include watching sports, enjoying gaming education and going out with friends and family to have a good time.

I Started working with South Bronx Early College Academy Charter School as a Teacher Assistant for Art. Having a background of working with NIKE and Cooper Hewitt Museum producing sneakers and creating prototypes to help out our environments. I gradually then became apart of the Whed.Co family as a Group Leader as well as doing Art and Coding. I quickly grasped the content knowledge with my mentor Kelly Powers of the CS language for the Middle School Students. I attended Professional Developments with multiple CS opportunities of growth and reassurance to allow my practices as a teacher maintain on an onward performance.
